A learning thing
No experience is necessary. Everyone is welcome. No open-toed shoes.
Framing & Drywall 101
This is construction by the people for the people. We think construction and repair projects should be fun and accessible to everyone — and that experiential learning is the best tool for gaining the confidence to begin your own projects. We teach about every stage of the building process from construction skills and tool use to code awareness and of course actual building, so that you can go home fully prepared to start your own project.
Framing & Drywall 101. We’re turning part of a Brooklyn warehouse into a livable apartment, and we’re offering workshops on how to build walls in your own home or workspace. Classes are structured with a 1-2 hour instruction portion, followed by a hands-on “lab,” where you can put your knowledge into action.
Classes start at 6pm, starting Tuesday, July 13 through Friday, July 16, and the lab will be open until 7 or so each night. You can come to any or all classes — and stay as long or short as you like.
Because this is the first in a series of workshops, we’ll be asking for your feedback, and as such, we’re discounting classes to $7 apiece — which will help pay for refreshments onsite.
The workshop environment is super-casual, friendly, unintimidating and fun — made for beginners with an interest in DIY construction projects. Classes will be taught by Adam, who has remodeled several homes and is a lead construction instructor for Rebuilding Together. Jen will be coordinating and assisting.
Please RSVP
Classes will take place by the Halsey stop on the L train. Email for specifics. And please forward to your friends!
